Lush and I went to Taronga Zoo yesterday and it was very very cool. We caught the ferry over, which was not so great since I'm always filled with this sense of doom that I'm going to die a watery death when I'm in a boat, but the trip was pretty amazing I have to admit. You get such a good view of the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, it's really nice. I'll have some photos to follow, but I took them with a 35mm camera, so I have to wait to get the pics developed.

When we got to the zoo we took the cable car up to the top entrance. The details are boring unless you were in the moment, but it was a very cool day.
Highlights would be the seal show and the penguins, but you probably saw that one coming eh. And the meercats, because they were cool. All I can say is *wow* about the location though; the view from the zoo is amazing, I wouldn't mind being a resident there (especially because I'd never have to cook or clean again).

Also, I just bought season one and two of Press Gang on DVD. I was feeling nostalgic for 80/90s tv and I'm soooo glad I got them, they're still good after all this time. Except that I watched all the episodes in the last two days, so my eyes are feeling a little strange, and now I have nothing to watch. I was watching season two last night when a neighbour came up to borrow some dvds, but we got chatting and I didn't end up going to bed until the sun came up. Crazy times (I'm feeling a little wired right now too).

And speaking of crazy, I think I've surpassed myself this time (in the minds of the neighbours at least): not content with the mosquito coils I usually burn while I'm on the couch outside, I got myself a mozzie net that fits over the whole thing. Bright blue. Well, really more of an aqua colour. From the reactions of passers-by as I was trying to hang it up, I gather that neon-coloured outdoor mosquito nets are not really the norm around here. Maybe though they were just laughing at me trying to work out how to hang the blooding thing up. I couldn't get a hole to go through the ceiling, so in the end I had to construct this fairly complicated rope and pulley system out of yellow twine. It looks a little bizzare but it works.

Well now here's something a little unexpected: I did pass chemistry, dreaded lurgy that it is, and i got better than a pass, but a credit. And then I drank a bottle of champagne and am feeling, to be perfectly honest, quite dandy eh.

Well we didn't win $700 at trivia. Which isn't really a surprise because we're really not very good.

Also, after some elation in a post a while back that I had made it into the hallowed halls of a Google web search, my ranking has fallen, and I no longer come up in a Google search. This is not the end of the world though, in fact it's fairly minor and not something that I care hugely about because no one reads this trash-heap anyway.

I spoke to Ruth in Italy tonight and that was cool. I'm going to send her some thick black stockings so she can cut the feet off and match the fashion du jour. I miss my friends and I wish I was in Italy and going to Paris for New Year and had a friend who was going to the Netherlands so I could drop in and visit them. But not, I'm here and there's not a huge amount I can do about it. Except perhaps fashion me a makeshift canoe out of bark and old milk cartons and little bits of twig and maybe some feathers, and paddle out to sea in the hope that I get picked up by a cruise ship on the way to the Carribean/Mediterranean. We can have but small dreams.

I got some marks back, distintion + for sociology, and high credit for stats. Now I just need my fail in chem, and I should have an overall pass mark. I know it's petty but in both those subjects I was only just a few marks off the next highest marking band and it shits me a little bit to think, "would it've killed ya to bump it up a little bit?"

I decided not to take the job at Myer in Bondi Junction. I tried to get on contact with the manager every day for more than a week and couldn't get through, left a message which she never returned, and figured: bugger this, if they wanted me that badly they would return my calls and pay me more than 13.80 per hour with no penalty rates.

So, in a fit of something or other yesterday, I applied for all these jobs online, then got an interview this afternoon for something that sounded quite promising. Problem is, I just don't know if I really want the job if they offer it to me. It'd be full time, by myself, trying to keep with sales targets using push-push selling. It sounds a little more stressful than what I wanted. What I wanted was more like 3 or 4 days a week being bossed around by someone and not having to use my brain.

Sigh. And it's really hot and I need to clean my room but I can't be bothered. I hope we win $700 at trivia tonight. Seven hundred bucks would be nice.
