Travesty of justice.

I just read a post over at Smitten Kitchen that reminded me of something Very Important... don't worry, this is going somewhere... I think..

One night, approximately 2 years ago, I was struck by a sudden and serious craving. It may have been cold and wet and miserable outside, I don't recall, but for the purposes of this story, let's just say that at that particular time in my life, I wasn't leaving the house very often, except for pretty sudden and serious cravings.

Apple Cinnamon Pop Tarts.

Serious. Sudden. Craving.

Anyway, so as I remember it, I put on some pants and maybe even changed out of my ugg boots, and made my way out in the cold and rain and trekked 50 metres up the street to the shitty Woolworths Metro near my house, where I began circling the aisles looking for Pop Tarts.

Let's just say, for the purposes of this story, that this was quite an ordeal for me, because like I say..wasn't getting out much at the time. Up, down, up, down. I checked the cereal aisle. I checked biscuits. I checked baked goods.

No Pop Tarts.

I did some more circling. I think maybe I had a small panic attack. Finally I asked the man packing the shelves, where, where could the Pop Tarts be found?!

Now.. I'm only going to say this once, so you'd better pay attention.. the Pop Tarts...

DISCONTINUED IN AUSTRALIA

Say WHAT?!

Just believe me when I say that whole experience took some getting over.

But now, we get to the point (of sorts): turns out after all that, I could have just made them myself.

Thanks Smitten Kitchen, where were you 2 years ago on that cold and rainy night?
